Middleton-in-Teesdale

Accredited since: 2018

Our aim is to help as many people as possible, whatever their age or level of fitness, to enjoy walking in the beautiful area that surrounds us. To this end we walk every path within the parish each year to produce a comprehensive annual review which we share with elected bodies and local landowners. As well as working with both the Parish Council Footpath Focus Volunteers and the Hudeshope Woods Volunteers to maintain paths, we are currently supporting the North Pennines AONB in plans for a Teesdale Access Project in which the AONB would, in partnership with landowners, land managers, Parish Councils, DCC and community groups, seek ways in which improve access around Middleton. In addition, to give people the confidence to explore the area we run guided walks, have built up over over 20 detailed walks and maps on our website and produce a number of these as leaflets. In a town whose residents are naturally friendly and helpful we try to continue to improve visitors’ experience by offering an annual award for the business providing the best service for walkers. Come and experience Middleton-in-Teesdale for yourself.
