The New Year brings a sense of fresh beginnings and renewed energy, and here in Talgarth, that means gearing up for the next Talgarth Walking Festival. This much-loved event, now entering its eleventh year, is set to return from May 3rd to May 6th, 2025, promising another unforgettable celebration of walking, nature, and community.
What’s in Store for 2025?
The Talgarth Walking Festival has built a reputation for offering something for everyone, and the 2025 programme is no exception. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a first-time walker, you’ll find a range of guided walks designed to inspire and delight. From tranquil town strolls uncovering Talgarth’s rich history to challenging hikes across the breathtaking Black Mountains, the festival showcases the best of what our region has to offer.
Beyond the walks, participants can look forward to engaging talks from local experts, family-friendly activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow nature enthusiasts. This includes the artistic and natural heritage of the area through two unique walks: Beverley Thornley’s ‘Notes on a River – Afon Llynfi,’ offering insights into her forthcoming art book and her exploration of the Llynfi River, and Mark Harrell’s artist trail, which showcases local studios and exhibitions, celebrating the creative spirit of Talgarth. The festival is as much about community spirit as it is about exploring the great outdoors, making it a highlight of the year for locals and visitors alike.
Reflecting on the Past, Looking to the Future
The 2024 festival welcomed hundreds of walkers from across the UK, with highlights including the scenic Offa’s Dyke – Hay to Kington trail and the fascinating Geology of the Llynfi Catchment walk. Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the knowledge and enthusiasm of the walk leaders and the warm hospitality of Talgarth’s community.
Looking ahead, the Talgarth Walkers are Welcome group—the dedicated team behind the festival—are working hard to make the 2025 event even more memorable. With tickets going live on 1st February 2025, now is the perfect time to start planning your next adventure.
