Our guided walks are led by experienced local volunteers and offer a great choice of walk length and terrain. A walker’s paradise on the Shropshire and Welsh borders, local footpaths lead over open hilltops, through winding valleys, tiny hamlets, country lanes and sometimes the remains of ancient hill forts. The views are pretty impressive and so is Downton Gorge, the themed walk to Stokesay Court (where the 2007 romantic war drama film ‘Atonemment’ was filmed), and Stokesay Castle give you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the history, walks are informal and friendly. We also have a train journey into Wales and then walking back over an ancient path. There will be tea and cakes in Church Barn after the walks on the first three days. There are various evening events planned, including a presentation by Renee Wallace, Project Officer, Shropshire Hills for the “Foundation for Common Land”, there are three Commons in Shropshire, on Friday 12th May, and on Saturday 13th May an evening meal followed by our very own Val Littlehales who will intrigue you with local Shropshire story telling and dialect!
