The Society – which leads on Walkers are Welcome matters for Disley & Newtown (East Cheshire) – recently celebrated 25 years of maintaining & promoting footpaths in our area

They say . “We formed in 1999 and regularly organise events, talks and walks as well as monthly work parties to repair footpath & canal towpath surfaces, steps and stiles. We’re supported by Cheshire East PRoW team and the Canal & River Trust as well as the local council.
With money raised from coffee mornings and community grants, we installed a new commemorative bench on the Peak Forest Canal – made of over 1500 recycled plastic bottles and maintenance free!  We now look forward to the next 25 years…”
