Walkers are Welcome – developing in Norfolk

On 12 May, Cromer and Dereham Walkers are Welcome joined together to learn from each other, and to give support to colleagues in other towns, who are working to maintain (Aylsham), regain (Swaffham) or explore (Wymondham) accreditation.

Cromer WaW had arranged to show us all round some of their attractions, starting with the lifeboat at the end of the pier, then taking a walk up to the lighthouse high on the cliffs, to return through a network of paths around and through the town.  Over a relaxed lunch, we were then able to talk about some of the issues facing us – finding people willing to join a committee, raising money, getting publicity, drawing in businesses, to name a few.

All present found meeting up in this way to have been a valuable process, and one to repeat before too long.  We hope that not only will each of us benefit, but that we can raise our profile across the county.
