Monmouth’s new boot cleaner
Walkers in Monmouth now have the chance to clean their muddy boots. Collaboration between the Monmouth Walkers Are Welcome group, Monmouthshire County Council and Chris Grove, publican at the Robin Hood pub, has resulted in a brand new boot cleaner being installed in the beer garden at the Robin Hood.
Brian Ramsey, Chair of Monmouth Walkers Are Welcome said: “We were fortunate to be granted match-funding by MCC (from the adventa programme), which was aimed at improving facilities for walkers in Monmouthshire. Many walkers are reluctant to enter shops, restaurants and pubs in the town if they have muddy boots. By providing a very simple boot cleaner, in a secure location that will be accessible every day from 11am to 11pm, we will be encouraging walkers to be more confident about visiting businesses in the town, without having to worry about muddy boots.”
Chris Grove said: “We always welcome walkers and their dogs at the Robin Hood and we are delighted to be able to help in improving the walking experience in the town.” Monmouth Walkers Are Welcome is looking for another site for a second boot cleaner.
